FAQ

What is the price of your straps?
In general it's pretty simple. Whether ready-made or custom, the prices are:

$105 for stitchless
$115 for minimal stitch
$125 for full stitch
$225 for ammo straps

These prices include a buckle, tubes* and shipping in the US. International customers add $10 per shipment (not per item).

*Please note that, at this time, only 24mm and 26mm straps come with tubes installed.

There may be small additional charges for designs or stitching that's out of the ordinary.

How long to make a custom strap?
I generally run about 1.5-2 weeks from the time of payment until the strap is ready to ship. Sometimes it's less, but rarely is it more than 2 weeks.

If a strap is listed in the "Straps For Sale" section, it is in stock and available for immediate shipment.

How do I pay?
Payment in full for all straps is required at the time of order. I only take PayPal. My PayPal ID is
savagestraps@hotmail.com.

How do I know what size to buy?

Very good question and one to which there is not a simple answer. The best place to start, if possible, is with a strap that you currently own and like the fit. This is a starting point, but may have to be modified slightly because of a difference in leather thickness.

In general, thinner straps wear "longer" and thicker straps wear "shorter."

However, there are many other variables. Examples are:

  • Where you want the buckle to rest on the underside of the wrist (i.e. in the middle, off-centered toward the thumb side, etc.)
  • How much "tail" you want sticking out from the keeper(s)
  • How loose or tight you wear the strap
Here is a very general sizing chart to get you started:

6.0" - 6.5" = 120/75

6.6" - 7.0" = 125/75

7.1" - 7.5" = 130/80

7.6" - 8.0" = 135/80

8.0" - 8.5" = 140/85

As I said, this is a starting point, but many of my customers prefer longer straps. I would say that if you are in between sizes or think you may prefer a little longer tail, size up; especially on the long end of the strap.

As always, if you want to discuss your personal situation further, please drop me an email and we can sort it out.

Number of holes punched is also a very personal decision and hole placement is very difficult based on variables such as those listed above. I suggest a minimum of three holes. My standard number of holes is five and I start them 45mm from lug end on shorter straps and 50mm from long end on longer straps. I can, of course, modify this in any way you desire, just let me know your preference.

Right now I only offer round holes as I haven't found an oval punch that I like. I will update the site and offer oval holes if and when I find a good punch.

Do you make exotic straps like croc and alligator?

At this point I haven't made any straps from exotic materials and don't really intend to. There are several very competent makers in the market that deal in exotics and I plan to stick with cow and calf hides with which I have the most experience.

What about tapered straps?

Because I cut all straps by hand and do not use a template, jig or clicker, I do not offer tapered straps. The best I can do is a 1mm taper such as a 27/26 which I have done in the past.

Again, there are makers in the market that use mechanized processes to cut straps and offer many varieties of tapers. At this point I'm content to let them handle the tapered straps.

What are your shipping methods?

I ship to domestic US addresses via USPS Priority Mail and that cost is included in the strap price.

I ship Internationally via USPS Registered Mail or International Priority Mail. International customers add $10 to the cost of the strap for additional shipping charges. If you are ordering more than one strap, only one $10 upcharge applies per order (i.e. it's not per strap).

Any "fine print"?

Even though I make straps for Panerai watches and other brands, I am not affiliated with Officine Panerai or any other watch brand. Nor do Officine Panerai or any other watch brand endorse or warrant my straps.

Any watches that you may see in pictures on this site are property of me or one of my many customers and are not for sale.
